Prof. Dr.Ayaskanta Singh has become one of the leading and best gastroenterologist and hepatologist in a very short period; not only in the capital city of Bhubaneswar but also in the entire state of Odisha.

This acclaimed gastroenterologist is a native of the beautiful district of Angul. He has completed his MBBS and MD in General Medicine and further perused DM in Gastroenterology from SCB Medical College & Hospital. He has a brilliant academic career during his early school and college days and his medical career. He has won gold medals for excellent academic performance during his MBBS and Post graduation days. He has also received the iconic Modicon gold medal for the best outgoing DM student in 2015. Dr.Singh has also received the prestigious APDW Fellowship by ISG and represented India at World Gastro Congress Shanghai, China, in the year 2013.
He joined IMS and SUM hospital following the completion of his DM studies in the year 2015. He has served the well-renowned gastroenterology department at SUM hospital for more than five years. He has played an essential part in making the gastro department of SUM hospital one of the best in the state. He was promoted to the post of professor in 2020; making him one of the youngest professor in the country. In addition, he was selected to head and develop the gastroenterology and endoscopy department at SUM ULTIMATE Medicare, a sister hospital of IMS and SUM Hospital.
He has expert knowledge of diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures like Upper GI Endoscopy, Colonoscopy, ERCP, Capsule Endoscopy, Enteroscopy, Endoscopic Ultrasound, Manometry and Ph metry studies & Pediatric Endoscopies.
He has a keen academic interest and has more than 100 research papers published in national and international acclaimed peer-reviewed journals to his credit. All these papers cover a wide range of topics such as fatty liver, liver failure; ERCP; Endoscopy and NBI; H Pylori infection and alcoholic liver disease. He is involved in 3 multicentric interventional clinical trials. He is part of the important ISG task force( which includes all the renowned gastroenterologists of the country) for H Pylori infection. Dr Singh is also the reviewer of acclaimed international journals like American College of Gastroenterology Case Reports Journals, BMJ Case reports, and World Journal of Gastroenterology(WJG). He is also an associate editor of the World Journal of Gastroenterology(WJG).
